Almost....there.....11 weeks!

Almost there to be being 3 months pregnant and ending my first trimester! I've been feeling simply incredible and my energy is picking up just slightly.

In my last post I mentioned buying the belly band from target well I did and I hate it. I think I was imagining more of a spanx like contraption, lol. I think I'll be returning it and just buying maternity jeans.

I had a mini meltdown too about feeling like a whale and hubby just wrapped his arms around me and made me feel so beautiful again. He's my hero.

Here's what baby is up to this week:

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.
She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming. Source
In other baby news, I've found an educator in our area who is certified in the Bradley Method. Her classes will begin around April/May and they are once a week for 2 hours for 12 weeks. They cover not only labor but nutrition for mommy and baby, exercise, and preparing for a family. This method helps the husband be the coach during labor and the wife prepare for birth without drugs. I'm really excited about this! I've already started reading the book The Husband Coached Childbirth  which is very encouraging.

In house news, we got quite the education on Friday on what we can afford and are now better equipped in searching for something in our range. We feel so much more at ease and excited that we can look comfortably without worrying if we can really afford the home. Ideally, we'd like to close in June so wish us luck!!

Whew!

I still fit into my jeans!

My fat jeans at least.

I'm lucky enough that I get to wear scrubs everyday for work so my belly has been snug as a bug 5x's a week. Weekends so far have been great too, but this week I've been feeling just a tad more pregnant. So, I wasn't sure what was going to happen when I tried on my pants this afternoon. I didn't even go for my old favorite I just grabbed the fat jeans and they're still a tad loose. I'm not sure when I'm going to buy maternity jeans or a belly band. Don't even get me started on the fact I need a few new bras too!

I guess maternity clothes are not something I'm looking forward to. My friends tell me "Oh there's so many cute things you'll  be able to wear for summer!" And I'm thinking by summer I'll be a whale and probably not care what I'm wearing. The funny thing is and nobody knows, is that I had planned (hoped) for this to be my last summer with some abs before we tried for baby. Bahahaha! I'm sure I made God laugh with that one!

In order to brighten my mood about clothes here are some inspiration pictures for myself

Ok 3 I guess I need to do some more searching =)

The Birth Plan

Has been on my mind since I saw The Business of Being Born the other night with the hubby. I have a strong man to sit and watch that movie through with me!

This movie was about the "business" part of having a baby when it comes to giving birth in a hospital whether vaginally or a cesarean. It also discussed midwives and their role in helping during the birth whether at home or a birth center. It was eye opening to say the least and we're grateful to have watched it. I would highly recommend this movie to any of my girlfriends and fathers-to-be. Run to your local library to see if they have it. That's what we did. Just to tell you this movie obviously leans towards using midwives and having a natural birth.

I always believed I would have a natural birth with no painkillers. I felt that if my grandmother could have 10 kids on her own then so the heck can I! I am as stubborn and strong willed as she was. But I never considered a mid-wife. Thankfully our hospital has 3 so I can definitely choose to go that route.

Abuelita

It turns out the maternity floor has jacuzzis as well which I wonder if that means you can do a water birth. We're going to sign up for birth education classes and with those come a tour of the hospital. We're not going to sign up until closer to the due date so I can't say I've seen any part of the maternity floor. My doctor did like it when she had her baby there last summer and she used a mid-wife. I have to have some questions prepared about that for the next appt.

Another thing that I have been wanting to do to try to prepare for the big B is Prenatal Yoga. I'm sure the library has some dvds on this too so hopefully I can start that up soon. Even though I couldn't "plan" this pregnancy the fanatic planner in me is coming out in full force now. I can't get ahead of myself though, I repeat over and over "I'm not in control." LOL I'm a nut  =)

We've hit double digits! ~~~10 weeks~~~

Sunday marked the beginning of 10 weeks so my olive is now a prune! This is what will take place this week:

Your baby's growth is fast and furious when you are 10 weeks pregnant. He or she is nearly an inch and a half long and the size of a prune, but not nearly as shriveled (even with all the time it spends in water). In fact, your baby is really taking a human shape now. Bones and cartilage are forming, and small indentations on the legs are developing into knees and ankles. The arms (complete with elbows) can flex already, but don't run to the store for a baseball bat just yet. Though your baby's arms are taking shape and getting stronger, each one is only about the size of this number 1.

The tooth bud fairy is making her appearance this week, heralding the arrival of your baby's little choppers, which are forming under the gums. (Those pearly whites won't break through the gums until your baby is close to six months old). Other systems are go, too. Your baby's stomach is producing digestive juices, the kidneys are producing larger quantities of urine, and, if your baby's a boy, he's already producing testosterone (yikes!). Source

As for me, no morning sickness and I haven't gotten nauseous in a while either. What I have been feeling is tiredness and then I'm still waking up during the night. I'm no longer munching on food at 4am but I have to eat first thing because I am starving! The weirdest thing is my left thigh is falling asleep or feels numb all the time. Kinda freaking me out so I'm going to ask the doctor about that one.

I keep a baby journal too where I write to the baby on a weekly basis :) I let him/her know what's going on with the development, how I'm feeling, what's going on with mom and dad, and just creating a memento for our bean to enjoy when they're older.

On a different subject, we started our house hunting again. We went this past Saturday and we actually liked a home so much we put in an offer!

This is a 3bed/2bath with a whole .62 acres! It's in a quiet neighborhood right down the road from a major park and two great schools. Right now we've only given a verbal offer so we're waiting to hear back. Apparently, the elderly couple that are selling it need a couple days to think about it, LOL. Our lease doesn't end till July so they can take all the time they want. We're not in any rush.

Stay tuned for any news =)

9 1/2 weeks!

We had our first prenatal appointment yesterday with my regular obgyn who just happened to have her first baby last summer. I love her and now all the advice she can give me.

Justin came with me making everything even more exciting. I was so nervous on the way there. I think maybe because it had been two weeks since the first ultrasound and I wasn't sure what to expect. This counted as the first official prenatal visit because we filled out the medical history questionnaire for both of us (are you related besides marriage was one question, yuck!) and our families, they drew my blood, I peed in a cup, and we discussed what every visit from here on out entails.

The ultrasound was my favorite part because it was Justin's first time and of course it made me all the more happier to see that I was still pregnant. I haven't had any morning sickness at all, so I was getting worried. Now I know many women that didn't experience it either so I just count myself lucky. The baby definitely looked bigger and I was right about the due date not being August 25th but the 21st....I've been thinking how cool it is that we've all been born on odd numbers. I love odd numbers, lol. Justin's the 1st and I'm the 29th so if baby Doyle comes August 21st then we'll have our odd lil family :-)

Anyway, I thought I was one week further along, but my doc says the baby measures 9.5 weeks so there you go. We got a grape now or green olive and soon to be a prune, lol.

Another cute thing during the ultrasound was that we saw our little grape jump! We didn't get to hear the heart beat but it was 177bpm.

Seriously though, I know I'm pregnant but it's still so new to me and when I see him/her on the screen it still feels like it's someone else and not me. Hopefully, that's not strange, but everything is still sinking in. I don't think I've had another thought enter my mind besides BABY. I've started to tell some of my client's moms and they're so excited. I finally told work too and they were surprised and happy. Yup, this baby is a big surprise!

I leave you with these beautiful verses: Psalm 139:13-14
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
   your works are wonderful,
   I know that full well.

Your dearest wish will come true

That was my fortune cookie in December before I knew I was pregnant! I even ended up taping it on the monitor

How cool is that :) We're still waiting on Justin's to come true, lol. "You will make a name for yourself in the field of entertainment."
My dream has always been to be a mom and now it's happening. I totally love the fact that it was a complete surprise to us too and not planned. Even though I'm a planner and I want certain things at certain times, this is one that was much better given to me when I wasn't expecting. It makes it feel so much more like a gift!

Tomorrow we have our first appointment together and with my regular ob/gyn at 8:45. I'm so excited!! All I've thought about is tomorrow. January is going way to slow for me.

I also can't believe how many celebrities are pregnant this year! We must have all caught the bug. The bug with the tail that is! Sorry, too much I know!
Here's who I've heard is pregnant with their first child:

1. Alicia Silverstone
2. Natalie Portman
3. Fergie
4. Marion Cotillard
5. Pink
6. Jewel
7. Selma Blair

Who's gonna be next?

Snowed In

What's a preggo to do when she's snowed in?

Dream

And I mean about baby stuff. I'm ahead of myself I know but let me indulge myself. One of my girlfriends has been asking me how I want to do the nursery. Looks like I'm not the only one ahead of myself :) So I got to thinking and I looked up nurseries online and found a few favorites. Now since I'm 99% sure it's going to be a boy I only saved boy nurseries. I did catch a peek at girly nurseries and OH MY GOSH I couldn't handle the adorableness! I might have to save some of those just in case. Here are my favs

And this website was awesome: Design Dazzle

If it's a boy I love the baby blue and cream. I'm not into cartoon characters in nurseries so I like more of the classic decor. Although I did see this Dr. Seuss nursery that was my favorite character inspired nursery:

Now if we could just find a home... I'm praying hard that we have one by June!

A New Year a New Surprise!

To start off:

We're Expecting!!!!!

We were so shocked! We weren't trying to get pregnant, in fact, we were more than happy to wait one more year. By now, I should know God is in control, always! On January 1 I took a pregnancy test and immediately the line showed up. I started shaking and thinking this thing is broken. I told Justin and he just said "Wow." The next night I took another one. This time we both waited and watched the digital  hourglass blink away and then...PREGNANT! How could I still  be in denial after this? I just was. My denial was over when I had my first doctor's appointment and I saw and heard the heart beat!! I was in L.O.V.E. They estimated I was 7 weeks but I think I was more like 8 since I know the night of conception, hehe. Here's our little raspberry:

Here's the same picture explained:

Of course I didn't just type this little post in one sitting. I can't sit that long! I've cleaned the bathrooms, done 2 loads of laundry, ate lunch, taken Luna out, and vacuumed! I'm wiped and it's time for a nap :)
